

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Eli G. and Gladys (Fish) Braley he lived most of his life in Fairhaven.
Mr. Braley was a 1942 graduate of Fairhaven High School. He served in the United States Navy and later graduated from Worcester Poly Tech. Eli was the president of Hathaway Machinery Company and later the vice president of Hathaway Braley Wharf.
Mr. Braley was active in the community. He helped build the band shell in Cushman Park, he was a lifelong member of the Mason’s which he joined in 1949 and was on the Fairhaven Mason’s Bowling League. Eli was also a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Reservation Golf Club. He was very proud of his hole in one which was hit December 1, 1969.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Diane E. Potter of Fairhaven; a sister, Janice B. Maynard of Westport; three grandchildren Eli G. Braley, IV of Jacksonville, FL; Adam Braley of Boston, and Amy Braley of Mattapoisett; and several nieces and nephews including his dear niece, Martha Worley.
He was the father of the late Eli G. Braley, III.
His memorial visiting hours will be Friday, November 7, 2014 5-8 PM in Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, MA 02719. Burial will take place Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10 AM in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
