Born in Mt. Vernon, New York, a daughter of the late Joseph Pinto and Mary Viera, she was a life-long resident of the area.
Mrs. Akin worked and volunteered for several senior organizations in the area for many years. She was an avid reader and plant lover. She was a very family-oriented person and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Peltier and a son, Charles H. Akin Jr. of Fairhaven; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Peter, Joseph and William Pinto; and a sister, Irene Fortin. She was also the grandmother of the late Jason Peltier and sister of the late Edward Viera and John Pinto.
Her funeral and burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the WARING-SULLIVAN Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, Fairhaven. Memorial contributes in her honor may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, MA Chapter, 72 East Concord Street, C3, Boston, MA 02118.
