Frank J. Carvalho Jr., age 72 of New Bedford, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Maylou (Cataldo) Carvalho to whom he had been married for 48 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Gananca) Carvalho, he was a lifelong resident of the city and a graduate of New Bedford Vocation Technical High School. A United States Navy Veteran, Mr. Carvalho served during the Vietnam War and was a huge New England Sports Fan.
He was employed as a Meat Buyer for Food Mart for 25 years before owning and operating his own store Buzzy’s General Store in Dartmouth for several years.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by two children, Donna DeTerra and her husband Randy of Acushnet and Mark Carvalho of New Bedford; two grandchildren Jake and Chloe DeTerra; a brother Richard Carvalho of Warren, RI and several nieces and nephews.
