

George Peder Lomp, 77, of Fairhaven, MA and Siesta Key, Florida, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 4, 2010 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Miami, Florida in 1932 to Norman and May Lomp, George grew up in Jamaica, NY, proudly served his country in the US Navy and attended Hofstra College. He started his business career working for Gertz and Allied Stores.
Mr. Lomp worked for 16 years as the domestics buyer for the chain of Bradlee Stores. Along with his brother Bob, they owned and operated the Seafarer Motel in Key largo, Florida. A loyal fan of the NY Giants, the Boston Red Sox and the Apponequet Lakers, George was also an accomplished Bonsai cultivator.
A devoted and loving husband, father, step-father, granddad, brother, uncle and friend, George leaves his wife of 26 years, Jo-Ann Sullivan, his children Donna Lomp of Newton, Martin and Jan Lomp of Wrentham, Dorann and Larry Cohen of Lakeville, Jennifer Walker of Lakeville, Angela and Eric Kendall of Lakeville, his step-children, Vicki Cleaves Gregory of Sarasota, Florida and Peter and Teresa Cleaves of Raymond, NH. He also leaves his brother Bob and his wife Pat Lomp of Middleboro, his nephews, Bob Lomp of Lakeville and Justin Lomp of Middleboro and his niece Megan Ieronimo and her husband Bob of Carver and their children Laicey, Zack and Gianna. Missing him already are his 19 grandchildren, Tyler and Colten Bigonet, Jacquelyn, Allison and Rachael Lomp, Travis, Daisha, Amber and Westin Cohen, Hailey, Brendon, Danielle and Shawna Walker, Jenna, Addisyn, Leanne and Eldan Kendall and Jackson and Gabriella Gregory.
Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 5-8pm with Words of Remembrance at 7pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
