

Born in New Bedford, a son of Eileen Fernandes of New Bedford and the late Henry Fernandes, he was a life-long resident of the area.
Henry was an elementary school teacher at the Alfred J. Gomes School in New Bedford for over 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed reading, being outdoors, bike riding, and was an avid gardener. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include: his son, Todd Fernandes and his wife Jessica of Somerville; his daughter, Wendy Malaguti and her husband David of Waltham; two grandchildren, Donald and Owen Malaguti; a brother, Steven Fernandes; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday December 20th at 11am at The First Unitarian Church in New Bedford. His burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of WARING-SULLIVAN Home of Memorial Tribute, Fairlawn Mortuary.
