It was with a strong sense of sadness that I learned of Janice's passing.
Over the last week I've had some moments to put aside the sadness and reflect on the good times my family enjoyed with two of my favorite people, Norman and Janice.
From my childhood into my teenage years, there were always a few weekends every summer spent in Westport with my father Bruce, and my brother Jim, as guests. Whether it was boating, crabbing, quahogging or jumping off of Ship Rock into the river, we always had a blast.
What I remember most, however, was how fun Norman and Janice were to be with. Their interest in us, their humor, their joie de vivre, and especially the kindness and hospitality they always extended to us.
I believe it's true that when those who have touched us in our lives pass on, in a sense, they haven't really left us at all while the memories of them continue to live on in our hearts.
I'll never forget Janice and the friendship we had.
My heartfelt condolences to Liz, Cathy, and the entire Maynard family.

Janice was my colleague but she was truly my friend. I was blessed to know her and doubly blessed to have had so very many wonderful fun times with her and our pack of friends.
We played golf, rode on boats on the river, stokes fires at rivers’ edge, enjoyed good wine and dinners and truly loved conversation and the people we loved, trusted and had a career with.
What a true gift to be with her.
Her spark, intellect, wit, humor and tenacity were second to none, truly.
I thank her for many many things.
And most of all, for making my life better by walking a part of life’s path with me.
I learned the big lesson of ‘ rolling with the punches’ from my friend.
Thank you, Liz and Kathy for a beautiful video tribute here and
for being such wonderful daughters to a remarkable friend of mine.
I will always love her. Always.
