To Marc and the entire Charette family, my deepest sympathies on the loss of your mother. Your mom and dad were an integral part of my youth on Sconticut Neck. May she Rest In Peace

I remember the summers we visited and stayed with Grandma and Grandpa. Their home always felt so warm and inviting. I remember Grandma smiling often and sitting at her kitchen table talking. I know one day I’ll see her again.

Grandma showed us how to be kind and sweet but still strong. She was light-hearted and her laugh was contagious. I was fortunate enough to grow up next door to Grandma and share quiet moments with her, listening to the clock Grandpa built while we read or colored. She accepted everyone for exactly who they were. Grandma will be missed on earth, but we will surely meet again.

Mom was a selfless and giving person who always thought of others before herself. She spoke ill of no one but expressed empathy for everyone. In turn, she left behind in this world a legacy of children who have sought to emulate her considerate and kind nature.

Mom has now found “a peace that passes all understanding” with the Prince of Peace.

I feel so very blessed to have known Joan! She was the kindest mother-in-law one could have wished for, always showing such interest in what the grandchildren were doing and how we were doing as a family. She had such a lovely way of making us all feel important and interesting and was such fun to be with. I will dearly miss Joan's presence on this earth, but our loss is heaven's gain, and by the grace of God, this parting will only be temporary.

"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus."

I never met Grammy Charette but her grandson Marc loved her to pieces and would talk about her lovingly to all of his friends. I know she will be dearly missed. RIP

To all of Joan's children and grandchildren:

I am very sorry for your loss and for my own.

I was Joan's baby sister many years ago. She took us on the bus to Island Park beach in the summers; she took me to the movies on her dates with Warren on Friday nights -- bet Warren loved that! She was my big sister.

Love, Joan's sister Margaret
