Born in Fall River, Joseph was the beloved son of the late Raymond and Loretta (Emond) Mathieu. He attended Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School and went on to live a life defined by hard work, service, and love for his community.
A dedicated professional, Joseph, was the Co-owner of Huttleston Realty, where he helped countless individuals and families find their homes. He later went on to serve as a manager at 5 Star Surgical, a surgical repair company, where he worked with diligence and pride until his retirement.
Joseph was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with honor and discipline—values that he carried with him throughout his life.
He was a proud member of Our Lady of Angels (Fairhaven).
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Debra (Fenwick) Mathieu. He is survived by his loving children, his daughter Lauren Mathieu of Fairhaven; three sons Joseph Mathieu, Ronald Mathieu, Michael Mathieu; six grandchildren Aiden, Bentley, Jayson, Ryan, Ron Jr., Michael Jr.; one sister Pauline (Mathieu) Dayian; and nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and many friends that he called family.
Known for his strong work ethic, warm heart, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved, Joseph will be remembered for the quiet strength he brought to every room, his steady guidance, and the deep love he had for his family.
His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 12:00-3:00 pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Burial is private.
