Lois S. Hirschmann, 99, of Marion, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Jack Bouton Hirschmann, Sr., peacefully joining him on what would have been their 76th wedding anniversary.
Born in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of the late Frank and Ellen Swanstrom, she had resided in Marion for the past 50 years.
Mrs. Hirschmann was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She did her dietetic residency at a hospital in Dayton, Ohio prior to her marriage to Jack. She loved to travel, visiting many parts of the world. Her most recent trip was to Norway in 2011.
She was a loyal member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.); supporting its mission to provide college scholarships to outstanding young woman across the USA. An avid glass collector, Mrs. Hirschmann was an active member, supporter and trustee emeritus of the Sandwich Glass Museum, which is dedicated to preserving the rich history of Sandwich’s glass industry. She was also a member of the New Bedford Mother's Club, the Sippican Women's Club and the Wamsutta Club.
Survivors include her children, Jack B. Hirschmann, Jr. and his wife Laura, Judie Marble and her husband Bruce, and Karen Burnes and her husband Ron Lister; her cousin, Evelyn Swanstrom; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Ethel Corinne Meerman.

Visiting Hours will be from 5PM to 8PM on Thursday April 4th at the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA. In June, there will be a reception at the Sandwich Glass Museum to celebrate her life.
