

Marjorie M. (Akin) Almeida, 94, of North Port, FL and formerly of Wareham, New Bedford, and Fairhaven passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Englewood Hospice Home. She was the wife of the late Manuel Almeida.
Born in Dartmouth, a daughter of the late Frederick W. and Eva R. (Harding) Akin, lived most her life in the Southcoast. She was a member of the former Primitive Methodist Church as well as First Church of the Nazarene.
Marjorie worked as a stitcher for Grinnell Pajama until her retirement in 1993. She had worked there for 50 years. She was the Sunday School Superintendent for 14 years at the Primitive Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed arts and crafts especially dolls and clowns.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Freitas and her husband Ronald of North Port, FL; two grandchildren, Tracey Sheene and her husband Heath and Andrew Freitas and his wife Francine; daughter-in-law, Theresa Almeida of Fairhaven; three great grandchildren, Noah, Brianna, and Brandon; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Kenneth A. Almeida and she was the sister of the late Thomas C. Akin, Charles H. Akin, Archie Akin, Herbert Jenney, Raymond Akin, Dorothy Akin, Anna Martel, Barbara Gifford, Ida Raymond, and Lillian J. Alves.
Her visitation will be Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 9 a.m. 11 a.m. in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven followed by a service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. For online tribute\directions: www.waring-sullivan.com.
