Born in New Bedford, MA, the son of the late Frank and Mary Barcellos. Mr. Barcellos is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Nancy Barcellos, his children Michael Barcellos, Jr. and wife Kristen, Matthew Barcellos and wife Abigail; siblings Frank Barcellos, Betty Ann Mendonca and Frances Lopes, as well as several nieces and nephews and his six grandchildren, Benjamin, Grace, Brooke, Gwenyth, Georgia, and Graelyn Barcellos. He was preceded in death by his brother Peter Barcellos and sister Mary Lou Cavanaugh.
Mr. Barcellos was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven, MA. He served admirably in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired as a Lieutenant with the Fairhaven Fire Department after 30 plus years of service. Mike was a proud member of the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) and the Fairhaven Firefighters Association - Local 1555 for which he previously served as president and board member.
Educated in Fairhaven and a graduate of Fairhaven High School, he resided in the town for the greater part of his life before moving to Florida in 2010. He was a devoted, loving, and caring father, grandfather, brother and friend who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and family. He will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.
His funeral will be Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 9 a.m. from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, 274 Main St., Fairhaven. Visitation Wednesday, July 20, 2022 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
