Michael J. Marchetti, age 69, of Acushnet, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026, in St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. He was the loving husband of Julie M. (Girard) Marchetti, to whom he had been married for 43 Years.
Born in Palatka, FL, the son of the late Dominic and Pauline Helen (Garrett) Marchetti, he earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island.
Michael was employed as the CEO, President, Executive VP & COO of Tuesday Morning Corp. in his many years there, at the Dallas, Texas based home goods retailer.
Michael enjoyed the ocean, time with friends, his job, and he loved his family, and a good debate, he called conversations.
Mike, the husband, the dad that came into my world & my 7 year old daughter's life, Alesha. He never had any of his own children, then, so he got to experiment on her, first.
Then came, baby Nicole. He did all things dads do, mostly, spoil them, and definitely love them, and teach them all he possibly could. He got to walk Alesha down the aisle and went to their graduations. He loved listening to music, watching TV, taking us, on vacations, to movies & to dinners.
Going to the ocean was a shared love, all our vacations included visiting beaches and beach towns all along the east & west coasts.
During his busy life, Mike did enjoy all of his jobs, he was a respected retail operations professional who was known for his financial acumen. He rose through the ranks to become Chief Financial Officer at Cherry and Webb, a regional specialty chain of stores. Mike then became Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of publicly traded Tuesday Morning Corporation and was promoted to President and CEO.
We are happy he is free of pain. And will be planning, his “Celebration of his Life”, at his last project he enjoyed working on daily, at our, “Lake Farm home". On Thanksgiving weekend, 2026, hopefully most of his close, long-distant family members and friends will have time to plan flight arrangements, by then to be able to join us.
No one is ever gone, their energy is still with us.
Life is short, so do what you love. Until we meet again.
I have told Nicole, her daddy won't be able to come home any more, as he has gone to heaven, and is working, for Jesus, now, house hunting & building rooms, for when it is our turn to pass away, he will have our new home, all picked out, and her special rooms all set up, just waiting for her to join him, in heaven, with Jesus.
“In my Father’s house are many rooms (or “mansions”); if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2).
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Alesha Blackwolf of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Nicole Marchetti of Acushnet; two grandchildren Casch McCulley and Zayta Blackwolf; a brother James Marchetti; two sisters Barbara Vertefeville and Cindy Fox and several nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his brother Tony Marchetti.
A Celebration of LIfe service will be held at a later date and time. To place an online tribute and for updated service information, please visit: www.waring-sullivan.com. Memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made to, St. Judes Hospital,or Special Olympics.
