Peter "Mr. Chimney" Pilat

He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, and Essex Technical College in Danvers, MA where he received his associate’s degree in business. He was employed by SS Kresge Company and later K-Mart Corporation for 15 years.

In 1985 he became owner and operator of Mr. Chimney, a Chimney Sweeping company and serviced the greater New Bedford area for 27 years. He was a member of the National Chimney Sweep Guild and was certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (#1584). He was also a proud and active member of the Massachusetts Chimney Sweep Guild, serving as secretary 1990-1993 and 1996-2000.

Surviving in addition to his wife: 3 daughters: Pamela Viveiros, Kathleen Simmons and Amy Pilat, mother Stefanie Pilat and 5 siblings Paula Mui, Ann Plaud, Mark, Susan and Paul Pilat, 3 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and brother and sister-in-laws.

His funeral will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the WARING –SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St. Fairhaven. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8 PM. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Contributions may be made to MA Chimney Sweep Guild Education Fund Scholarship in memory of Peter Pilat, Sandwich Chimney Sweep, P.O. Box 90 Sandwich, MA 02563.
