He was the husband of the late Eneida Gonzalez Mangual with whom he shared 54 years of marriage and together for 61 years.
Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Ismael Lopez Rodriguez and Esperanza Mendrez.
Radames proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War until being discharged due to injury. He previously worked as a Certified Public Accountant.
He was an active poker player who played in several tournaments. He was a well-respected coach for his sons’ sporting activities. Known for his directness, you could often find him walking around the city to keep active. He was a true family man and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Radames Lopez, Jr. and his wife Sherry Amaral-Lopez of Acushnet; Yaritza Escobar and her husband Edsel of New Bedford and Walter Radames Lopez and his wife Cristina of Venice, FL; his siblings, Clara Rivera, Carmen Pavao and Ramon Torres; seven grandchildren, Aisis, Avery, Jareb ,Walter Jr., Deelylah, Caius and Jaelany; two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Eve; and several nieces and nephews.
His visitation will be Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven.
