OBITUARY
William A. Crompton
August 24, 1935 – June 23, 2013
William A. Crompton, age 77, of Fairhaven, passed away, Sunday, June 23, 2013 after a brief illness at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Carol (Quirnbach) Crompton, to whom he would have shared 56 years of marriage on September 7th.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Paula (Vercammen) Crompton.
Mr. Crompton graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1953 and served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner and operator of Associated Printers for over 40 years.
He was a life-long resident of Fairhaven and traveled with his dog Cookie on Sconticut Neck Road for the majority of his life-time. To him Sconticut Neck was “God’s Country” in his heart and mind.
He enjoyed fishing, quahogging and camping. He loved being with his family especially his grandchildren.
Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Susan Staffon and Linda Lee Crompton, both of Fairhaven; five grandchildren, Linda Mae Staffon of Florida, Sara and Eric Staffon, both of Fairhaven and Kyle and Kara Koczera, both of Fairhaven; a sister, Joan Graves and her husband George of Fairhaven; two son-in-laws, Gary Staffon, John Koczera and close friend, Robert Lapointe along with several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours, Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 5-8 PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his honor may be made to Fairhaven Animal Shelter, 200 Bridge St., Fairhaven 02719.
