

Born in Fairhaven and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Edward C. and Althea (Ellis) Westgate.
Mr. Westgate worked for Revere Copper and Brass in New Bedford for 30 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed deer hunting, running his beagles and was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Most of all, Bill loved the company of his family, friends and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, William E. Westgate, Jr. and his wife Diane of Fairhaven; daughters, Lori Hamdi and her husband Atef of California and Kelly Talbot of Fairhaven; a brother, George Westgate and his wife Marian of New Bedford; sisters-in-law, Edith Silva of Fairhaven, Yvonne Sylvia of Acushnet, Dorothy Westgate of Fairhaven and Sandra Westgate of New Bedford; a godchild, Candi Correia and her husband Michael of New Bedford; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur Westgate, Everett Westgate, John Westgate, Sandra Acevedo, and Madge Wallace. He was brother-in-law of the late Nelson Silva and David Sylvia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 5-8pm in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven.
