Dortha L Miller-Ryan

December 16, 1922-January 16, 2014

Born in Burnt House WV to Lester G. & Georgia E. Brake, Dot moved to Akron with her family where she and Jacob H. Miller raised their two children Sandra Reed & Garry Miller. She worked for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as an executive secretary before retiring to Apollo Beach, FL. She and Jake enjoyed many years in their retirement community making many friends along the way. After losing her first husband she kept busy with the “girls” and never turned down an opportunity to keep busy with social activities including teaching line dancing. Never leaving her home without her signature hats, she was always the belle of the ball. It wasn’t long before she was snagged by another fine man, Nelson Ryan with whom she enjoyed several years before losing him. Dot is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, dear sister Norma Clark and granddaughter Denise Cusack. Left behind to miss her dearly are sister-in-law Evelyn, daughter Sandy (Ron) Reed, son Garry (Roxy) Miller, grandchildren Leslie (Donnie), Erik (Wendy), David, Valerie (Aaron), Rachell & Jason (Sherri); great grandchildren Michelle (Dan), Kalyn (Andy), Amanda, Nicole, Reed, Bryson, Teghan, Calvin & Jordan; great-great grandchildren Jessica, Danny, Marco; who always brought a smile to her face and newborn Isabelle. In addition, she leaves behind many nieces & nephews and 91 years’ worth of friends. Cremation has taken place and the family plans a memorial service to be held at a later date.
