He was born March 3, 1945 in Alliance, Ohio son of Francis and Constance “Tonsi” (Dordea) Peters. He was raised in Alliance, Ohio and graduated from Alliance High School in 1963.
Following high school, he was inducted into the US Army in October of 1965. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War. For his fearless service he earned a purple heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Marksman badge (Rifle). From his experience came his value of teamwork, discipline, willingness to help, and his strength to endure the things that came his way in life.
Upon his honorable discharge in October of 1967, David went to Los Angeles Valley College where he received a degree in criminal justice, leading him to a job in a local jail. Dave soon entered the manufacturing field, most notably with Morse Signal and Familian Pipe and Supply. He enjoyed time spent with his family, riding his Harley, the spontaneous trips with his wife, and giving back to veterans through organizations such as the VFW and Rolling Thunder.
David is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Cindy Peters, his Mother “Tonsi”, siblings, Gary, Christina (Jim), Mark (Teresa), Jeff (Sue), his brother-in-law Bud, his wonderful children and grandchildren that meant the world to him.
David is preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Peters (Sexton), his father Francis Peters, sisters, Connie and Nikki, grandparents and the dog he so loved – Reese.
A formal graveside service for the family will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Following the service, the family welcomes all who feel comfortable to join us for a box luncheon at the Brunswick VFW Post 9520 Wednesday February 17th @ 2:30 pm. We ask that you follow all COVID guidelines and wear a mask when not eating or drinking.
