Gilbert Joseph Horonetz, Jr. (Gibby) went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths taken but by the moments that take our breath away.

Gilbert served in the United States Army for 16 years and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He, with his wife and children, traveled to several army bases within the United States and abroad which included Italy and Germany.

Gilbert was a resident of Akron, OH. He loved to cook, fish, repair and restore automobiles or any type of machinery. He enjoyed singing and teaching his skills to others and was also a Sunday school teacher. Gibby was loved by many in the community and affectionately referred to “pops” by many.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his loving wife Claudia; parents, Gilbert Sr. & Carolyn; brothers, Edward and David Horonetz; brother-in-law Richard Kendig. Survived by two children Claudberta and Gilbert Joseph III (Radonna); brothers, Roger (Ann), Kenneth (Jean); sister-in-laws, Esther Kidgell, Millicent Kendig, and Jeannie Horonetz; grandchildren, Nicholes, Krystal, Bryan and Ashley; great-grandchildren Reagan and Derek; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
