Allen Rickert

He was born on September 30, 1942, in Belleville, IL, to the late Clarence and Lorene (nee Wiegand) Rickert. 

Allen lived a full and adventurous life, marked by hard work, love, and unforgettable memories. A legendary fisherman, he found peace and joy on the water and loved sharing that passion with others. He adored his grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them, whether close to home or traveling together. Earlier this year, he joined his family on a special trip to Hawaii, where he ziplined through the trees and went horseback riding — proof that his adventurous spirit never faded.

He was a proud union masonry bricklayer and contractor for 66 years, known for his craftsmanship, dedication, and the beautiful work he left behind. At home, he cultivated a stunning garden that reflected the same care and patience he showed in every part of his life. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love for his family, and the way he lived each day to the fullest.

In addition to his parents, Allen is preceded by a son, Robert Ryan Rickert; two brothers: Clarence Rickert, and Dennis Rickert; and three sisters: June Kish, Darlene Reeb, and Betty Schmidt.

Allen is survived by his loving wife, Carol (nee Stuckel) Rickert, whom he married December 28, 1963; daughter, Rachelle “Shelly” Rickert; three grandchildren: Codee Grundig, Jilian Grundig, and Wyatt Leehy; a great-granddaughter, Sienna Grundig; brother-in-law, Kenny Stuckel; two sisters-in-law: Norma Rickert, and Sharon Rickert; numerous nieces and nephews; and his wonderful friends: Jim and Deb Bozsa.

Visitation will be held at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL, on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10 am to 2pm.

Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Deacon Corby G. Valentine celebrant. 

Burial to be at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Burn Center at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, in memory of Robert Ryan Rickert.
