Ben was a smart guy and a great business man. My husband and I loved working for Ben and Patti when they owned Encore Construction. They were a great team and built a fine quality product! Blessed to have known him!

I met Ben in 6th Grade. We were very close the next 6 years. Then 1 year together at the ATO House at the U of I, then 1 year at Belleville Jr College where we were reunited in football. At East Side, Ben was a starting receiver and safety on our teams that had 42 in-a-row without a loss. Ben was also an excellent tennis and basketball player, but was a better person. Probably the best liked in our class and was voted as such AND organized EVERY High School Reunion. Goodbye Ben 😢

Ben and I were basketball teammates at East St. Louis Senior High School in the mid-1950’s.

I remember Ben as a highly competitive athlete in three sports: basketball, tennis and football. He was equally competitive in academics.

My wife, Gerry and I send our deepest sympathies to the Burkett Family upon Ben’s passing. We pray for God’s comforting strength for Ben’s wife, Patti.
