Bob was a life member of the Sign and Pictorial Painters Union Local No. 774 St. Louis, Mo.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Korean Veteran. He started in the sign trade professionally in 1956, serving his apprenticeship with Demond Sign Co. in E. St. Louis. From 1969 to 1982, he operated his own business in Belleville as Blair Signs. In 1982, he went to work for Hiclay Studios in St. Louis as a Sign Painter and Graphic Designer. He has received numerous awards and recognition. He retired in 1998.
He married Leann Krupp on October 20, 1962 and they had four children: Traci L. (Blair) Firestone (Kenneth) of Millstadt, IL; Michelle A. (Blair) Terrell (Hugh) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Nicole L. Blair (Rigo) of Greensboro, NC; and Cory "C.J." Blair (Carla) of Smithton, IL. Leann died June 1979. In 1980, Bob met Doris M. Notheis of St. Louis, MO. They were married February 14, 1981. Doris had two boys and the family increased by two more. Walter S. Notheis III (Terrie) of High Ridge, MO and Scott W. Notheis (Tammy) of Foristell, MO.
He also leaves behind two sisters-in-law Phyllis Kaminski (William) of Fenton, MO and Dollien (Krupp) Dinges (Leroy) of Shiloh, IL; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Milford F. Blair, mother, Sophia (Volkmann) Blair, two sisters Melba J. Blair of Alton, IL and Donna J. Bugg of Hillview, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jefferson Barracks (V.A.) Hospital for Injured and Returning Veterans.
A funeral service for Bob will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral, from 1:00 P.M.- 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following services with final interment at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL at a later date.
