Obituary of Carole Beth Berger
IN THE CARE OF

Lake View Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens

Carole Beth Berger (Ridgeway), 82, of Freeburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Carole was born on August 9, 1943, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Hugh and Elizabeth Ridgeway. She was the beloved wife of the late William “Bill” J. Berger, with whom she shared a life centered around family, love, and devotion.

She is survived by her children: Todd (Karen) Berger, Jeff (Bernadette) Berger, Gregory (Angela) Berger, and William “BJ” (Kimberly) Berger.

Carole was a proud and loving grandmother to Maggie, David, Justin, Rob, Sydney, Jessica, Cody, Tyler, Blake, and Joseph. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Jeremiah, Aaden, Noah, Tesla, Lily, Lincoln, Brady, Brock, Sienna, Scottie and Cody.

She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy (Les) Howard and Lisa (Paul) Dan, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Carole will be remembered for her love of family, her caring heart, and the strength and kindness she shared with those around her. Taking care of others was her greatest passion, and she was always the first person there whenever someone needed help. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren and creating lasting memories with those she loved. Carole also had a deep love for camping and fishing, where she found peace, happiness, and many cherished memories with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” J. Berger; her beloved grandson, Cody Berger; her parents, Hugh and Elizabeth Ridgeway.

There will be a private graveside service for family, and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

The Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Liberty Village of Maryville and Vitas Hospice, and all those who provided comfort and compassionate care during this difficult time.
