

Clay “Claybird” Stephen Croffoot, age 31, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from injuries sustained in a car accident. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
He was born on February 24, 1994, in Belleville, IL, to Keith and Tracy (nee Schneider) Croffoot.
Clay was a proud father whose greatest joy in life was his 1-year-old son, Cooper. He also had a close friendship with Cooper’s brother, Carter. Clay was a momma’s boy and he had a very close relationship with his grandma, Renee, who held an important place in his heart. He loved attending auto races with his dad. Known as an avid pool player, he competed in leagues and tournaments and made countless friendships along the way.
His kindness and smile touched many lives, and his family has been deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support from the community since his passing. He will be remembered for his loyalty and the love he shared so freely with everyone who knew him.
Clay was preceded by his brother, Keith Allen Croffoot; maternal grandparents, Vernon and Renee Schneider; and paternal grandfather, F. Keith Croffoot.
In addition to his parents, Clay is survived by his son, Cooper; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Croffoot; two aunts: Connie (Tim) Rehg and Lana (Tom) Munie; two uncles: Terry (Barbara) Schneider and Kirk (Susie) Croffoot; and many cousins, friends, and his pool family.
A celebration of life will be held outside the funeral home at a later date (to be announced), along with a private burial at Lake View Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Promise.
Memorial donations can be made to the family, c/o Lana Munie, to cover medical and funeral expenses. Remaining funds will be placed in a trust fund for his son, Cooper. Collection envelopes and a Cash App link will be available at the celebration of life.
