Darlene E Dumstorff

Darlene spent her career as a caregiver, working at the former Castlehaven Care Center, in Swansea, Illinois. She was a straight forward woman who called it as she saw it, which was appreciated by family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister; who will truly be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by two children, Brenda and John Dumstorff, in infancy; her parents, Albert and Clara, nee Schmidt, Kettler; and a brother, Wilbert Kettler.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 56 years, Dennis H. Dumstorff, of Shiloh, Illinois; her daughter, Kathy (Matt) Stallons, of Swansea, Illinois; her grandchildren, Mitchell T. Stallons, Garrett M. Stallons, and Madison E. Stallons, all of Swansea, Illinois; her siblings, Virginia Schwarze, of Valmeyer, Illinois, Robert Kettler, of Waterloo, Illinois, and her twin sister, Marlene Rusteberg, of Waterloo, Illinois; two special nieces, Debbie, Rusteberg and Linda Jenkins; and many other nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and nurses of Cedar Hurst, Shiloh, Illinois and Memorial East Hospital, Shiloh, Illinois.

As we watched your life’s light dim

We knew the situation would someday be grim

No longer able to wonder the isles

of your favorite stores for hours,

Looking for the packages marked “New”.

Your speech slowly faded,

No longer able to torment and cackle.

To all us “Dumba*ses” your words were just a babble.

Your favorite cookies and cakes became a struggle,

Soon pudding and ice cream gave you trouble.

Your joys of life had been taken away.

“Let it go”, you said.

Now you walk beside us, never far

From our thoughts.

Forever in our hearts.
