Derek Andrew Hoag

Derek Andrew Hoag, aged 51, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois. He was born in Centreville Township, Illinois on April 4, 1974 to Ed and Paula Hoag.

During his life, Derek did so many things. He worked for his parents' real estate business. He was a security guard. He managed karaoke sing alongs, as well as a KISS podcast. He also played in many, many bands. Derek could figure out how to play any instrument and was a very accomplished musician.

Derek was also a great pen and ink artist. His artwork was displayed throughout his house, and he spent countless hours at his desk drawing. But most of all, Derek loved his family, friends, and his two 4-legged children, Bailey and Brodie with all his heart.

Derek was preceded in death by his mother and father, Paula and Edward Hoag, as well as a brother, Jason Hoag. On his mother's side, grandparents Harvey and Pauline Hopper; uncle, Robert Hopper; and aunt, Beverly Dale. On his father's side, grandparents, Edward and Faye Hoag; uncle, Larry Elkins; and aunt, Sharon Kreutz.

Derek will be buried at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Illinois. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
