Doris Mae Apthorpe

Doris Mae Apthorpe (nee Baitinger), age 94, of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Doris is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Apthorpe, her parents Frederick C. and Opal Sophie (nee Owens) Baitinger, her sister June Prewitt (nee Baitinger), and her brother Robert Baitinger. Doris is survived by her daughter Nancy Heil (James); her grandsons, Andrew Heil (Nichole) and Adam Heil (Gina); her great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Zaylynn, and Zaryah "LuLu"; her sister Debbie Jones (Alan); Doris is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Doris was a woman of faith and loved the Lord. She was loved and cherished by her family. She was an excellent cook and was known for her German Potato Salad and Red Velvet Cake. She was gifted and played the piano for her church for many years. Doris was loved and will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be held 5-8 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Lake View Funeral Home 5000 North Illinois Street Fairview Heights, IL 62208. Celebration of life will take place on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 10 am at Lake View Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Crossin, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
