Doris lived life as the ultimate mother and supporter of family and friends. She will be remembered for her gentle demeanor, loving personality, and sweetness toward anyone she encountered.
Doris attended Belleville public schools and was a retired homemaker who early in life worked to support family as a waitress at Belleville’s former Bismarck and Bob White cafés. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for her St. Louis Blues and Cardinals on TV. She was also known as an outstanding cook who hosted many holiday feasts, impromptu fish fries, barbecues, and beer-and-turtle-soup gatherings at the family home or clubhouse. She was particularly passionate about spending countless hours baking many dozens of cookies that made holidays extra special for the family.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years William Calhoun (1981); parents John and Laura, nee Chatelain, Roth; and a brother, Hans (Christine) Roth and one great-grandchild.
