She was born on November 11, 1929, in East St. Louis, IL to the late Curtis and Larnie (nee Tatom) Chapman.
Doris was a fiercely independent and detail-oriented woman, known for her strong will and unwavering dedication to doing things the right way. In her younger years, she loved to travel and embraced the adventure of seeing new places. Her faith was a constant throughout her life and was a devoted member of Southern Baptist Church of Highland. She also had a love for games, especially dominos and cards, and treasured the laughter and connection they brought during time spent with loved ones. Above all, her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved deeply and supported wholeheartedly. Her strength, faith, and love will be dearly remembered by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husband, Paul David Crocker, whom she married on May 29, 1953; a daughter, Mary Jane Crocker; brother, Robert Chapman; two sisters: Shirley McQuaid, and Beverly Gravot.
She is survived by her children: Kathleen (Terry) Thompson, of Festus, MO, Allan (Mary) Crocker, of Plano, Texas, and Brian (Diane) Crocker, of Collinsville, IL; nine grandchildren: Lori Parker, Lucas (Kristin) Parker, Valerie (Benjamin) Leonard, Ethan (Hannah) Parker, Trace Johnson, Mary (Theunis) Oliphant, Beverly (Jason) Aston, Ashley (Christian) Castelli, and Jonathan (Rebecca) Crocker; 16 great grandchildren: Ryan, Brady, Abraham, Jeremiah, Josiah, Samuel, Leo, Evan, Olivia, Katie, Mary, Theunis, Larnie, Teagan, Tradyn, and Tenley; sister, Sarah Bouse; and many nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Benjamin Leonard officiating.
Final resting will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.
