Doris Marie Jones

She was born August 2, 1932 in Rockwood, IL to George & Mary (Sauerhage) Mezo. They preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, Virgil Wayne Jones, whom she married on February 26, 1953. Virgil passed away on June 21, 2005; her son-in-law, Harold Schaeffer; in-laws, Freeman & Daisy (Morber) Jones; sisters, Eileen Verseman, Rosemary Mezo and Lois Bower; brother-in-law, Carol Verseman; and nephews, Dale Bower and Eric Verseman.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her two daughters, : Debbie (Mark) Glueck, Belleville IL and Janet Schaeffer, Chandler, AZ; granddaughters, Crystal (Bud) Hunter, Gilbert AZ, Ashley Schaeffer (Miguel Vazquez), Herndon VA, Sarah (Brett) Hartig, Chesterfield MO, Rachel Glueck, Leander TX; great-grandchildren, Hadley & Broxton Hunter of Gilbert AZ and Landon & Chase Hartig of Chesterfield, MO; nieces, Cheryl (Mike) Jones of Belleville, IL and Mariann (Ray) Alford of Jefferson City, MO; and brother-in-law, Glenn Bower of Belleville, IL.

Doris retired from Venture in Fairview Heights in 1996, after many years of dedicated service.

Doris loved God and her family. She attended Grace Church in Fairview Heights, IL.

She liked playing Skip-Bo, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. Her true passion was planting beautiful flowers in her yard in the springtime. Years ago, she was a member of the Fairview Heights Garden Club.

Her strength and smile have touched our hearts in so many ways, and made us realize how lucky we were to have her for our Mom.
