

Edna was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing cards with her card group and family or friends, playing golf, being an Avon representative, fishing with her husband and father. She was very interested in tracing her family ancestry. Her great-great grandfather, John Messinger, settled in Illinois where the Messinger cemetery is. In her later years, Edna Mae loved sitting outside and being in nature. Most of all, she was full of joy and happiness with a gracious and kind spirit. She deeply loved her entire family.
Edna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. (Jerry) Schwarz, whom she married February 5th, 1951, and who died April 6th, 1987, her parents, Frank L. and Hilda, nee Hartmann, Bleisch. Jerry’s parents, Ferdinand II, and Helen, nee Kassebaum, Schwarz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen (Sis) and Dr. Edward Dewein, Sr., Devona Schwarz, Marjorie and Stephen Luther, Jr., Louie (Mary) Schwarz, Ferdinand III (Dorothy) Schwarz, Harold (Aurelia) Schwarz, James (Esther) Schwarz, Patricia (Emil) Leipold, and Virginia (Ginna) (Robert) Seibert.
Surviving are her two children and their spouses, Frank Gregory (Barbara, nee Gibson) Schwarz of Clinton, Illinois: and Lynn (Denis) Haas of Swansea, Illinois; four grandchildren, Crystal Mae Haas of Belleville, Illinois, Michael (Christina, nee Yelinek) Schwarz of Bloomington, IL, David (Kelsey Parkison) Haas of Indianapolis, IN, and James Schwarz of Orlando, FL, and two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Reagan Schwarz. Edna Mae also shared special relationships with several friends: Cheryl Wooley, Kathi and Dale Haas, Carol Crannage, and Gerry Hobbs. Edna Mae had a special place in her heart for her granddogs; Dakota, Addie, Dwight, Harper, and Marley.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 9th, 2025, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Funeral will be at 10:00 am Monday, March 10th, 2025, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

We, as a family, know how so very blessed we were to have Edna Mae as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the greatest support for all of us.
