Elizabeth Stanley

Elizabeth was born on June 12, 1919 in Abilene, Kansas. Elizabeth was the beloved mother of six children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, and University of Denver, attaining her masters in Library Sciences. Elizabeth was head librarian for O’Fallon High School for over 35 years and also worked part-time at SIU-Edwardsville Lovejoy Library.

Elizabeth was the daughter of Rev. Dr. Frank G. and Blanche (Fees) Richard. She was married on September 5, 1948, to Robert G. Stanley in Partridge, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, her sisters Olive Ina Seif and Virginia Senti, and brother Garfield Richard.

Elizabeth is survived by her children: David (Kathleen) Stanley, Sarah (Bill) Hoback, John (Melanie) Stanley, Leigh Ann (Mark) Rudy, Kathryn Leary and Philip (Donna Boresi) Stanley; one sister, Frances (Howard) Anderson; seven grandchildren, Rachel (Ron) O'Shia, Josh (Stacy) Hoback, Charles (Dawn) Rudy, Jon (Robin Popejoy) Hoback, Jessica (Cliff) Russell, Samantha Stanley and Sean Leary; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers per the family’s request, donations may be given to the Dammert Geriatic Center in Belleville, IL or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Condolences may also be expressed online at www.lakeviewfuneralhm.com.

Visitation: friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the funeral home with Rev. Charles West officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
