

John was a United States Army Veteran who served proudly in WWII in the 88th Blue Devils Division. He was wounded twice in Italy just six weeks before the war ended and subsequently was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Ruppured Duck Medal and the Infantry Medal for his heroism. He was a proud member of the Laborers Local 100 Union for over 70 years in East St. Louis, Ill. John was dedicated to his country, his church and had an outstanding love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Helen, nee Beahringer, Kreisler; two sisters, Nell & Irene Kreisler; a brother in infancy, Michael Kreisler.
Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Lucy, nee Newell, Kreisler; a son, John (Peggy) Kreisler; and three daughters, Ellen (Tom) Brown, Nancy (Ed) McLean and Terri(Jesse) Veliz; Grandsons, Syd and Ben Mulder, Brad (Jahnon) Kreisler, Brian (Beth) Kreisler, Jonathan (Susan) McLean , Aaron (fiancée, Emily Coleman) McLean and Austin Veliz; Great-Grandchildren, Justice Rozniak, Solon Mulder and Madison McLean; special cousins, Don and Karola Beahringer and a sister-in-law, Millie Newell
