He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Juanita (Proffer) Webb and his son Jerry Alan Webb who passed away at infancy.
George is survived by his wife, Marilyn Marie Webb (Bollinger), whom he married on May 5, 1951 and four sons, Gary, Larry (Jan), Terry (Suzi), and Donald; ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews who will miss him.
George retired from the United States Postal Service as a maintenance worker. Before his Postal Service career he worked as a pipe fitter for AO Smith in Granite City. He joined the Illinois National Guard on June 21, 1948, until he was transferred to Fort Still for communications school. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart on August 31, 1953 after a land mine explosion, in which he lost a leg. George enjoyed blue grass music, camping, boating, traveling, and spending time with his family. You could always find him piddling around the house fixing anything he could find.
Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Monday June 18, 2018 at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral will be at 10am on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL.
Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL
Memorials may be directed to the Collinsville VFW, where George was a member.
