Glendel M. Warren (Haynes), of Webster Groves, Missouri, passed away on September 29, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on April 4, 1937, in Cisne, Illinois, to the late Fremont and Audrey Haynes, Glendel lived a life defined by vibrant energy, immense creativity, and a sharp, stylish flair.
Glendel was a woman of profound faith who was deeply involved in her spiritual life. Her relationship with God was an important and sustaining presence throughout her life. She had a lifelong gift for working with her hands and bringing color to the world. A talented and dedicated professional florist, she managed the floral department of a local grocery store in Mount Vernon, Illinois, and later shared her artistry working at Easton's Floral. Her deep passion for design wasn't just central to her career; it was a cornerstone of her life. Having moved many times over the years, Glendel loved decorating and brought her signature flair for design into every new house, beautifully transforming each one into a warm and welcoming home environment.
In her earlier years, she was also deeply committed to her community, serving as an active member and past president of her local chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. More recently, her community expanded at the Rockwood Senior Center, where the deep connections and wonderful friendships she made meant the absolute world to her.
Beyond her floral designs and community connections, Glendel was a skilled seamstress, an avid reader, an enthusiastic solver of puzzles, and a passionate card player. She maintained an active and energetic spirit throughout her life, keeping up with her daily walks. Glendel was a true style icon—widely known as the "best dressed" lady who never missed a detail, always pairing her outfits with perfectly matching jewelry. Her playful and creative spirit truly shone at Halloween, a holiday where her competitive side came out, earning her the "Best Costume" award most years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Jerry Warren, her cherished granddaughter, Makenna Laurent, and her precious great-granddaughter, Maya Jami.
Glendel's legacy of love and style continues through her devoted daughters and their spouses: Cheri and David Laurent, Crystal Warren and Michael Baetz, and Xonda and Brett Reed.
She was a proud grandmother to her six surviving grandchildren and their families:
* Jerry Laurent and his wife Lyssa, and great-grandchildren Noah and Josh Jami, and Gabriel and Caden Laurent;
* Cayla Wester and her husband Neil, and great-grandchildren Adalynn and Austin Wester;
* Matthew Gregg;
* Quinn Baetz and partner Ana Nazari, and great-grandchildren Birdie and Indy Baetz;
* Alex Gregg;
* Madison Rose and her husband Luke.
She is also survived by her dear sister, Carolyn Green, as well as eight devoted nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Makenna Laurent Memorial Fund (AKA Maya & Makenna Memorial), benefiting the mental well-being and driving safety of teens.
