Greg was born April 7, 1962 in Quincy, IL to Don and Ruth (Terwelp) Hoebing. They preceded him in death.
Greg was also preceded in death by his brother, Joe Hoebing.
Greg married Cindy S. Baldwin on May 21, 1987 in Utah. She survives and resides in O’Fallon, IL.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Dannielle (Bill) Thorpe of Fenton, MO and Jessica (Brody) Allen of Swansea, IL; his beloved grandsons, Liam and Kai Thorpe; siblings, Lori (Gary) Yates of Quincy, IL, Lisa Hoebing of Chatham, IL, Linda (Roland) Fox of Plainfield, IN; sister-in-law, Amie Hoebing of Quincy, IL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Greg proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, and then worked in IT civil service for several years following.
He was an avid Chicago Bulls, Bears, Cubs and Fighting Illini fan. A highlight of Greg’s life was watching the Chicago Cubs win the World Series.
He was a collector of pinball machines and enjoyed adding to his impressive collection over the years. He and his family loved to travel all over the world. Hawaii was his favorite destination, where so many memories were made.
Above all else, Greg loved his family dearly. His two grandsons, Liam and Kai were his pride and joy. They will grow up being reminded often how much they were loved by their Papa. His legacy and love will always live on in the hearts of his family. He will be dearly missed by all.
The family has entrusted Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL with cremation rites.
A graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
