

Hoover C. Guthrie, 87, of Lebanon, Illinois, born November 7, 1928, to the union of Arthur and Virgie, nee Moody, Guthrie, in Jesup, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday January 6, 2016 at Cedar Ridge Healthcare in Lebanon, Illinois.
Hoover was owner operator of Hoovers Auto Body & Upholstery at 1022 N. 37th Street, E. St. Louis, Illinois, for 30 plus years, and owner and President of Guthrie AMC Jeep & Renault at 524 Vandalia, Collinsville, Illinois for 8 years.
Hoover married the love of his life, Mollie F. (Robins) Guthrie on May 27, 1950 and enjoyed 65 amazing years. They raised five children, Danny (Cindy) Guthrie of Lebanon, Il., Christopher (JoEllyn) Guthrie of Springhill, Fl., Robin (David) Suydam of Lebanon, Il., Jonathon Guthrie of Lebanon, Il., and Cindy (Mike) Wait of Lebanon, Il,. They enjoyed 17 grandchildren, Shane (Chelsea) Guthrie, Jeremy Guthrie, Nicholas (Erin) Guthrie, Michael (Samantha) Guthrie, Danielle (Billy) Kruepp, Kristy (Mike) Woosley, Kyle Guthrie, Mikey Guthrie, Joey Guthrie, Amber Cutler, Ron (Angela) Christ, Autumn (Mike) Schomaker, Dustin Hubert, Johnna Guthrie, Alexis Guthrie, Tyler Wait, Victoria Wait, and 18 soon to be 19 great-grandchildren. Hoover is also survived by two sisters Barb (Lee) Thrasher and Imogene Massey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hoover was a quiet, soft spoken gentleman who was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He was very family and faith orientated, and all who had the pleasure to know him loved him.
Hoover served as a deacon, usher and greeter at First Baptist Church of O’Fallon where he most enjoyed being “Door keeper to the House of the Lord” Psalm 84: 10-12.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M. Monday January 11, 2016 at First Baptist Church of O’ Fallon, O’ Fallon, Illinois.
Funeral : Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M Monday, January 11, 2016 at First Baptist Church of O’Fallon, with Pastor Doug Munton, and Associate Pastor Skip Leininger officiating.
Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
