Jacqueline Brown, 88, of O’Fallon, Illinois, passed away on October 5, 2026. Born on January 14, 1938, she leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and deep love for the family, friends, and community that meant so much to her.
Jacqueline’s love for her family was felt in the way she paid attention, the stories she listened to, the accomplishments she celebrated, and the everyday moments she never took for granted. She was the proud mother of five children: Hilda Hair, Leroy Brown, Tracy (Tom) Moreland, Dean (JoAnna) Brown, and Paul (Laurie) Brown. Her twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy. Being part of their lives meant everything to her.
Jacqueline’s care reached well beyond her family. She looked forward to volunteering at the local food pantry with her dear friend Patty, finding purpose in lending a hand and serving her community. At home, she showed her affection in familiar, generous ways, especially by baking treats to share with family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, completing puzzles, playing games on her tablet, and listening to Elvis. Her family admired her energy and independence, qualities she carried with her throughout her later years.
Her faith and her ties to the community were constant in her life. Jacqueline was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, St. Clare Seniors, O’Fallon Senior Citizens, and the O’Fallon Senior Township Board. She was also a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, O’Fallon Chapter #487, where she served as Past Matron.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her son, Leroy Brown; her parents, Plummer and Hilda (Granget) Bailey; her former husband, Gerald Dean Brown; her brother, Bert Bailey; and her sisters, Shirley Dilahay and Madeline Patterson.
Jacqueline’s life was made meaningful in the ways she showed up: for her family, for her friends, and for neighbors she may never have known by name. In a warm kitchen, over a shared story, or in a quiet act of service, she made people feel cared for. That goodness remains in the generations she loved, the community she served, and the many hearts that will carry her with them.
Please join Jacqueline's family and friends as they gather to remember a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Visitation will be held at Lake View Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 10:00 am until Funeral Service at 12:00 pm.
