He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher W Akers, a grandson, Christopher M Akers, parents, Marion and Hattie (Jones) Akers, a sister, Rose (Roy) Fisher, Washington, IL; brother, Louis (Dorothy) Akers, Alton, IL; brother, Marion (Joan) Akers.
James is survived by his wife, Judith (Pontious) Akers, son Steven Akers, Affton, MO; a sister, Louise Surber, Freeburg, IL and many nieces and nephews.
James had worked most of his life in construction as Vice President of CAM Construction company. He enjoyed playing golf, building, and watching sports of all kinds.
Memorial Gathering will be Friday, August 28th, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Memorial Service will be Friday, August 28th, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
