

Born on August 30th, 1954 in St. Louis, MO to Kenneth and Lillian (Engelmann) Holtgrewe
Jeff's life was spent loving Jesus and seeing souls saved. He was never afraid to share the gospel and used every opportunity to share his faith with others. He loved his family and spent as much time with them as possible. He loved to be active and enjoyed working on his vehicles, in the garden, taking walks, and going on yearly fishing trips with his son. Jeff was also an avid St Louis Blues fan and used his season tickets to share his excitement with his grown children who often joined him.
He had a long and varied career, spending the first portion working as a lineman for a cable company, then later he worked for Todd Hall Retreat Center, and did work for various people and businesses in the area.
A Great Joy in His Life
Jeff had a passion for serving the Lord in several ministries. He found salvation and faith at Dayspring Bible Camp, which he started attending at 15 years of age. Throughout his young life and on through adulthood he served the camp in many capacities including counselor, director, president, music leader, and fishing instructor for the youth. Jeff also served and taught at his home church, Villa Hills Gospel Chapel, where the close knit congregation was a second family to him. Jeff also had a prison ministry for many years and went weekly to the St. Clair County Jail to encourage the incarcerated, and witness about Jesus.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Holtgrewe and Lillian (Engelmann) Holtgrewe.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 47 years, Sunae Holtgrewe, whom he married on October 18, 1975. His daughter Rebecca (Corey) Anderson of Belleville, IL, son Matthew (Dena) Holtgrewe of Belleville, IL and daughter Emily (Jonathan )Watts of Tulsa, OK. His Grandchildren, Will, Nate Obi, Morgan, Tyler and James. His four brothers, in-laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He will always be remembered for his generous and kind spirit, he always had a smile on his face and never had a negative word about anyone.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness” II Timothy 4:7-8a
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. under the direction of Lake View Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dayspring Bible Camp.
