Jerry P. Edwards

Mr. Edwards was retired from the Alton Southern Railroad where he worked as a machinist for over 21 years. Jerry was a member of the Shiloh Eagles Arie 545. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and golf.

He was preceded in death by his life companion, Phyllis E. Smelser, who passed away on Sept. 14, 2011; his parents, Joseph R. and Georgia M., nee Burch, Edwards; and a sister-in-law, Donna Edwards.

Surviving are his son, Chris A. (Dana LaTempt) Edwards of Edwardsville, Ill.; two brothers, his twin brother, Joseph (Rose) Edwards of Smithton, Ill., and Richard (Amy) Edwards of Freeburg, Ill.; a granddaughter, Ashley Edwards of Eureka, Mo.; a grandson, Ethan Smelser of Belleville, Ill.; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Crocker of Eureka, Mo.; former wife, Judy, nee Stroup, Edwards of Swansea, Ill.; a loving niece, two nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, and the entire 10th floor staff at Barnes Jewish Hospital for excellent care and compassion for our dad and brother.
