

Jerry Joe Warren, 76, recent resident of Fairview Heights, Ill., formerly of Mt. Vernon, Ill., born on June 21, 1936 in Songer Township, Ill., died on Friday, March 22, 2013 at his residence at 6:30 A.M. surrounded by his loving family after battling cancer.
Jerry was a 1954 graduate of Flora High School, Flora, Ill., and later a 1958 graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Agriculture Education. He was a United States Army Veteran of which he served 3 years active duty as an Army pilot and five years in active reserves.
He retired after working 32 years for Growmark F-S, Bloomington, Ill. Jerry traveled multiple times overseas on volunteer missions to set up farming cooperatives for the U.S. Department of Foreign Affairs (ACDI/VOCA
Jerry loved woodworking, golf, tennis, and spending time with his family and friends, and he especially loved traveling the world.
He was preceded in death by his loving granddaughter, Makenna Laurent; his parents, Xon & Anna, nee Logan, Warren; and his in-laws, Fremont and Audrey Haynes
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Glendel Warren, nee Haynes, of whom he married on June 10, 1956 of Fairview Heights, Ill; his daughter, Cheri (David) Laurent of Belleville, Ill., Crystal (Mike) Warren-Baetz of St. Louis, MO., Xonda (Brett) Reed of Sacramento, CA; a brother, Mike Warren Sr., of Flora, Ill., Grandchildren, Jerry (Sarah) Laurent of Belleville, Ill., Cayla Laurent of Fairview Heights, Ill., Matthew Gregg of Chico, CA., Quinn Baetz of San Fransico, CA., Alex Gregg of Sacramento, CA., Madison Baetz of Normal, OK., and a dear loving aunt, Neva; dear nieces, nephews cousins and friends and his adopted family in Moldova.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Belleville, Ill., or to Ma,enna’s Broken Hearts in care of the Makenna Laurent Memorial Fund.
