He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (nee Finck), son, Eric D., and grandsons, Kevin Jr. and Joshua Nater. He is survived by his children: James M. Elkins and wife, Charlene, Kevin D. Elkins and ex-wives, Sharon and Laura, Roxanne M. Elkins and husband, Terry, Kelly J. Elkins and his wife, Patricia,
and Shauna J. Stoehr and husband, Michael; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He served as an employee for Vandalia Bus Lines, Bi-State Transit, and Metro Transit over a 43-year career.
A visitation for Jim will be held on September 10, 2021 from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, with funeral service to follow immediately after, at 12:00 P.M. Jim will be laid to rest on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.
