Born in Rach Gia, Vietnam, on February 13, 1944, Jimmy lived a life defined by dedication and sacrifice. In pursuit of a better life, he, his wife, and their two elder children were among the many "Boat People" who fled Vietnam. After taking refuge in Thailand for five months, they entered the United States in 1979 and made their home in St. Louis, Missouri.
Jimmy and Sim, his devoted wife of 50 years, worked tirelessly to support their family. He spent his early years as a cook at various restaurants before securing a manufacturing job in a factory, where he worked until retirement. Though his afternoon-to-midnight shift meant his children rarely saw him during the week, he always reserved weekends for his family.
Family was truly everything to Jimmy; he took in his wife's siblings and cared for them as his own. Although life was not always easy, he never complained or gave up. He was a man of few words with a heart of gold. He never raised his voice and taught with love and patience.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Sim; his children, Hung (Fianne), Kathleen (Michael), Ann (Timothy), and Henry; his seven loving grandchildren, Ava, Chelsea, Andrew, Colby, Abigail, Audrey, and Aiden; and his sisters, Hai and Hao.
Although our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing he is now enjoying paradise. He will be greatly missed, never forgotten, and will always remain in our hearts and minds.
