A faithful servant, devoted wife and mother, and the light in every room.
July 1, 1938 - July 1, 2025
With both heavy hearts and grateful spirits, we celebrate the life of Jo Ann Wilson, who went home to be with the Lord on her 87th birthday surrounded by the love of her family and held in the peace of God's presence. Jo Ann was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. Her life was a testimony to God's grace - marked by kindness, humility, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Whether in a church pew, a kitchen full of family, or a quiet conversation she made everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. She was the beloved wife of the late Willis Wilson, and their marriage was a beautiful reflection of God's love; patient, strong, and full of laughter. She was a devoted mother to Pamela, Bradley, and Chad- raising them with prayer, wisdom, and gentle strength. Her words of encouragement and open arms were constants in their lives.
Jo Ann had a warmth that could fill a room, a smile that lit up hearts, and a laugh that made you feel like everything was going to be okay. She was the one who remembered birthdays, always had a jar full of "medicine" (peanut M&Ms), and prayed for you even when you didn't ask.
Her faith wasn't just spoken - it was lived. In every act of service, every whispered prayer, and every life she touched, she left the imprint of Christ's love.
She is now rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant".
In addition to her husband, Willis, Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Glendean (nee Madden) Howard; two sons: Gregory, and Jeffrey; grandson, Gregory Stephen; and her brother, Herbert.
Jo Ann is survived by her children: Pam, Brad (Karen), and Chad (Tina); grandchildren: Renee (Ryan), Megan (Ruben), Christina (Travis), Faith, Justin, Alayna, and Nathan; great grandchildren: Sophia, Abigail, Willis, Veronica, and Elliana; brother, Jerry (Elaine); sister-in-law, Mary; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 10 am to 12pm at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL.
A service to celebrate her life and faith will follow, with Pastor Ron Newman officiating.
She will be laid to rest after the service at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.
In honor of her memory, the family asks that you carry her legacy forward by loving others well, walking in faith, and never underestimating the power of a gentle spirit.
