John Wayne Dean Sr.

John W. Dean Sr., 78, of Collinsville, formerly of Glen Carbon and East St. Louis, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022. He was born April 6, 1943 in Mayfield, Kentucky to Alonzo “Red” and Barbara (Baldwin) Dean. John was a veteran of the United States Army. He married Patricia Fitzgeral in 1966, she preceded him in death in 2010. He then married Dorothy nee Alcorn Douglas August 10, 2013 at the Masonic Hall in Highland. John retired from Lewis Clark Marine March 31, 2009. He had a love for music and enjoyed singing. He also enjoyed watching television.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy nee Alcorn Dean; son, John W. Dean Jr.; step-daughter, Jamie nee Fogle (Dan) Skinner; brother-in-law, Ted Berg; grandchildren, Jacob Robert (Kayleen) Dean, Sr., Katie Ann (Andrew Sr.) Kaminski, Abigail Iris Ann (Gilbert) Mosher, Joshua Freeman (Diana) Dean, Jeremiah David (Kat) Dean, Joseph Melvin Dean, Amanda Lynn (Ben) Garcia, Micheal Anthony (Brittney Bracken) Kidd; step-grandchildren, Jared “Alex” Alexander Folge and Jesse James Skinner; great-grandchildren, Jacob Robert Dean Jr., Mary Katherine and Jedidah John Dean, Emily Ann and Andrew Lee Jr. Kaminski, Tina Rochelle and Theodore Bach Mosher, Jeremiah David Dean Jr, Ciana Marie, Robert Benjamin, Johnathan Patrick Garcia; step-great-grandchild, Sabastian Benjamin Saunders. Predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Patricia Dean; daughter, Barbara Lynn Kidd; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Dean; step-children, James and Jody Fogle; 2 sister-in-laws and 1 brother-in-law.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sherman Smith officiating in Lake View Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society.
