John Leonard Post

John Leonard Post, age 58, of Belleville, IL, passed away at home on Sunday, October 15, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born June 13, 1965 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Thomas and Betty Post. John was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked in an executive administrative support position at Scott Air Force Base and acquired two master’s degrees, elevating from a GS5 to GS11 before retiring from civil service. He married the love of his life, Blanca Rosa on February 18, 2011. His family was the most important thing to John and he treasured every moment spent with them. He also held a special place in his heart for his dear pets, Lulu, Spud, Bella and many others. John had a passion for bowling, baseball, Marvel/DC movies, and collectibles, especially Batman. He also enjoyed traveling, visiting the Budweiser Master Tour and attending St. Louis Cardinals games. John will be remembered for his loving kindness and dedication to his Country and family. He will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Blanca Rosa Post; dear children, Brandon Michael Post, John Daniel Caamal, Mark Anthony Caamal and Liliana Andrea Caamal; precious grandchildren, Kyah Caamal, Isabella Caamal, Genesis Caamal, Gabriel Caamal and Lucas Caamal; parents, Thomas Ronald and Betty Jean Post and brother, Thomas Post Jr.; nephew, Zachary Wirth-Post.

A memorial mass for John will be held at 10:00am on Monday, November 6, 2023 at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Catholic Church, 1910 W. Belle St., Belleville, IL 62226 with Father William McGhee officiating. A graveside service with military honors will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208. A celebration of life will be held at Lake View Funeral Home immediately following the burial. Memorial contributions can be made to ASPCA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
