

Jack was born July 13, 1940 in Belleville, IL to John H. and Bernice A. (Begemann) Schrand. He married Paula Vessell on January 26, 1963 in Belleville, IL. She survives and resides in Belleville, IL.
Also surviving are their children, Michael (wife, Julie) Schrand of Fayetteville, IL, Timothy Schrand of Shiloh, IL, Laura (husband, Lyle Jr.) DeWitt of Belleville, IL, Mark (wife, Julie) Schrand of Export, PA, John (wife, Melissa) Schrand of Belleville, IL; grandchildren, Michael Jr., Jaclynn (Scott), Ashley, Tammy, Kaitlynn (Carlos), Danielle (Dustin), Brittany, Caroline, Addison, Langston, Lily, Emma, Brooke and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Nola, Emerson, Peyson, Lucas, Bentley, Hunter, Libby, Nevaeh and Calli who will arrive in June; sisters, Marybeth Schaltenbrand of Belleville, IL and Ginny Griffin of Rockwall, TX; brother in-law, William Hyten of Colorado; brother and sister-in-laws, Steven and Wendy Vessell of Belleville, IL and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Bernice Schrand; one son, Chris Schrand; brother-in-laws, Cletus Rompel, James Schaltenbrand and Patrick Griffin; in-laws, John and Hester Vessell; and sister-in-law, Carla Hyten.
Jack was a 1958 graduate of Cathedral High School in Belleville, IL where chosen as Crusader of the Year among his peers. He then went on to further his education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, earning his Bachelor’s degree. He also served as President for Signa Pi Fraternity. Jack was a 7th grade teacher throughout his career, working at Marie Schaefer Elementary School, Emge Junior High School, and Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. He also coached numerous sports, including 7th grade basketball, high school golf and baseball. His passions in life were teaching, coaching and passing on his knowledge and skill to children eager to learn from him. Jack enjoyed spending time with his golf friends and watching stock car racing. He was also a member of St Augustine's Catholic Church in Belleville. Above all else, Jack cherished his family and friends and the time spent together. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Private family service will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Father McGhee will officiate.
