

Mr. Dobbs retired from the Post-Dispatch after 27 years of service as a printer and a trainer in the Harris Room, he was also a member of I.T.U #8 in St. Louis, Missouri and worked as a printer for 52 years. Joseph was a member of East Lodge #504 AF&AM in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Mr. Dobbs was a former scout leader, a longtime volunteer at Cahokia Mounds, and was a master flint napper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph F. and Irene, nee Odell, Dobbs, a brother and sister-in-law, David R. and Joanne Dobbs, and a granddaughter, Kathryn Marie Dobbs.
Surviving is his wife, Eleanor Dobbs, nee Butler, four sons; Joseph F. Dobbs II of Mesa, Arizona, Michael William (Mary) Dobbs of Berea, Ohio, Alan Jerome Dobbs of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Jeffery Butler Dobbs of St. Clair, Missouri, seven grandchildren; Jennifer Green, and Jason, Jeffery Michael, Charles, Amanda, Ryan Alan, and his best buddy, William J. Dobbs, three great grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Faith Louise, and Caiden Michael, two cousins; Mary Weaver and Irene Butler, other relatives and many friends.
