Joseph "Joe" Michael Houston

Joe departed this life on Wednesday afternoon on March 16th in Belleville Illinois. A proud father, grandfather, brother, and son; Joe was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. People who knew him will always remember his laid back and friendly attitude. Joe Cool was the kind of guy everyone wanted to be around.

Joe was born in Memphis TN, but lived most of his life near St. Louis MO. He grew up in Washington Park Il, with his 5 siblings, raised a family in Mount Vernon IL, and then retired in Belleville IL near his family. Joe worked hard throughout his life, whether he was driving a truck over the road or driving a forklift at Vern Wood Press (RIP), he was always proud to call himself a Union man. For fun, Joe enjoyed golfing, camping and fishing, and annoying his sons by watching Nascar every Sunday.

Joe is survived by his mother Carolyn (Don) Eilers, former spouse Karen S. Houston, sons Jason (Ronnie) & Jeff (Lindsey) Houston and grandchildren Seth Houston, Nora Houston and Tanner Dunn; his brothers & sisters; Sonny (Kay) Houston, Steve Houston, Stephanie (Byron) Nowak, Tony (Linda) Houston, and Gloria (Earl) Ridgeway -- not to mention, lord knows, how many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death in by his father Clarence Houston and his son Jeffrey Dunn.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000N Illinois St. Fairview Heights, IL. Visitation on Sunday March 20, 2016 between 4-7pm.
